DSSW Corporate Payroll Specialist needed for San Antonio
**Corporate Payroll Experience Required**
Position Summary: The Payroll Specialist performs technical and complex accounting work for the maintenance of an automated payroll system and prepares other financial and statistical records and reports.
Tasks:
? Audits time records submitted by all locations to ensure conformance with appropriate administrative policies and regulations; verify salary adjustments and retroactive pay for all employees.
? Coordinates payroll runs; review documents, corrects errors and balances payroll for each pay period; compiles routine reports related to payroll activity; posts payroll adjustments to the general ledger as necessary.
? Reconciles payroll and tax withholding records.
? Reports and deposits Federal Income Tax withholding to the appropriate government agency; prepares and distributes Federal W-2 forms and tapes; reconciles and submits Social Security and Medicare documents.
? Explains company payroll policies and procedures; confer with Human Resources and respond to inquiries from employees regarding changes in paychecks, time sheets and coding.
? May require implementation of technical accounting principles and procedures.
? Observes confidentiality policies at all times.
? Complies with federal, state, & company policies, procedures, and regulations.
? Performs other related duties as assigned.

? Must be able to read, write and comprehend English; must be able to communicate efficiently in English.
Experience and Education:
? High school diploma or GED required.
? Two (2) years of experience in payroll accounting.
? Knowledge of principles, practices, methods and procedures of modern payroll accounting.
? Knowledge of laws, regulations and ordinances regarding payroll accounting.
? Understanding of statistics and checking, balancing and verification procedures.
? Must be able to demonstrate competence with computer applications such as MS Word and
Excel and have the ability to readily learn agency specific software.
? Must be proficient in the use of database and spreadsheet software.
? Must be able to type 35 wpm with 80% accuracy, 80% accuracy in Excel, and 8,000 to
10,000 keystrokes proficient with 10-key adding machine.
Physical Requirements:
? Sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods of time.
? Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction.
? Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with words, hand(s)
or arm(s); for example, using the keyboard.
