Essential
Tasks
- Retrieve authorizations from all assigned payors for
services provided.
- Review authorizations to ensure proper coding
(including modifiers) and coverage.
- Collaborate with Service Advisors and Billing
Department on account updates and authorization activity.
- Assist with denials by obtaining clinical information,
ICD-10 coding, or other details to correct errors.
- Maintain charts, records, and databases of patient
authorizations.
- Communicate delays or issues to the Authorization Lead
promptly.
- Stay informed on authorization requirements for all
payors and regulatory guidelines.
Experience
& Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1–3 years of billing and/or accounts receivable
experience.
- Strong knowledge of payer guidelines related to claim
submission.
- Familiarity with payer websites and billing resources.
- Basic medical coding/terminology and insurance
practices.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and ability to learn
agency-specific software.
- Typing speed: 35 wpm with 80% accuracy; Excel accuracy:
80%.
