The Floater is a part time position.  

Must have reliable transportation.

Disability Services of the Southwest (DSSW) is seeking Floaters.

Our Floaters are part-time employees and provide personal care services to our clients on an as-needed basis. They are not meant to be permanent providers for any one client but instead assist with as many clients as needed.

* Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license & auto liability insurance.*

Position Summary:

The Floater provides attendant care services on an as-needed basis.

  Tasks:

·         Provide attendant care services such as bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, light housekeeping, meal preparations, and/or laundry on a scheduled, as needed, and/or emergency basis to ensure clients receive services according to their established plan of care

·         Provide attendant care services according to the assigned client’s Habilitation Plan

·         Respond to pages/calls within fifteen minutes and be available to provide attendant care services as assigned by the Scheduler and/or Program Director

·         Travel required for client visits/hourly care and daily activities as necessary

·         Observe confidentiality policies at all times

·         Comply with federal, state, & company policies, procedures, and regulations

·         Perform other related duties as assigned


Skills/Attributes:

·       Able to work independently

·       Able to work with a team to accomplish goals and objectives

·       Must be able to follow verbal instructions to complete task

·       Willingness to work with health care professionals, clients, families, and the general public

·       Excellent interpersonal relations skills, including active listening skills such as giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, and asking questions as appropriate

·       Written and verbal communication skills are required to communicate effectively as appropriate to the needs of the audience


Experience and Education:

·         Must be at least 18 years of age

·         High school diploma or GED required

·         Must have experience or training that demonstrates the ability to provide attendant care

·         Must have at least six (6) months experience working with people with disabilities

·         Must have and maintain current CPR certification including the Heimlich Maneuver, online certification is not sufficient to meet the requirement

·         Must not have any convictions for certain crimes described in stated criminal legislation relating to caring for the aged and disabled

·         Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license and auto liability insurance

Physical Requirements:

·     Ability to travel to client’s homes for visits/hourly care and to daily activities

·     Refer to attached Employee Physical Profile for additional requirements
